The Gordon Lamb Board

Richard Lamb - Chairman

A graduate of Durham University, Richard joined the business in 1968 and worked closely with his father, Gordon, to grow the business organically. During this time Richard also worked as a Director of Saab GB but resigned to focus on his own family business. After Gordon's retirement, Richard, grew the business substantially, winning a number of new franchises for the Group.

Outside of his duties as Chairman, Richard enjoys the better things in life like travelling, fine wines and food but forces himself to swim regularly in order to keep the waistline in check.

Born in Chesterfield, he now lives in the Peak District.

Stephen Lamb - Chief Executive Officer

A graduate of Newcastle University (and a former professional Rugby player), Stephen joined the business officially in 1996. (However, as is typical with any family business, Stephen has worked for the business in every holiday period since he was 14 years old).

Naturally, being Chief Executive, work occupies most of life but he makes time to keep active and get out and about in the Peak District. He also enjoys spending time in the gym, trying to keep on top of his small holding, reading P. G. Wodehouse or doing some cooking. He is a qualified PADI diver and wishes he was better at skiing.

Stephen lives with an ever growing menagerie of animals in a cottage farmhouse on the Derbyshire Moors.

Kheng Lim - Group Finance Director

Having graduated with an Accounting degree, and prior to qualifying as a Chartered Accountant, Kheng spent the earlier parts of his career working for a mid tier accountancy firm in the North West of England, and later, with a National Top 10, where he worked mainly in larger corporate audits. After leaving professional practice, he gained further experience in the leisure and IT industry before becoming firmly entrenched within the motor trade in the late Nineties!

Kheng held various Financial Controller positions with the Dixon Motors Group, initially working in the Motorcycles division and was later a part of the management team that established jamjar.com. Kheng was also involved in merger & acquisition work, including the final sale of Dixon Motors where he was lastly Group Financial Controller before he left in early 2006 to join Gordon Lamb.

Born in Malaysia, and with family also in Australia, Kheng has spent a lot of time on the other side of the world, but is now determined to catch up with holidays closer to home. Kheng is married with a young family and enjoys the occasional beer & curry with friends and playing badminton (to burn off the guilt!).

Mike Hyatt - Director & Company Secretary

A graduate of Southampton University, Mike comes from a family of accountants and as such was almost destined to become a Chartered Accountant. Mike has held various Finance Controller/Director positions locally prior to joining us back in 2000.

Originally Mike joined us as Finance Director but as the commercial legislative burden increased, Mike elected to focus on this and become Company Secretary.

Outside of work, Mike is a reluctant gardener and avid Sheffield Wednesday fan who enjoys spending time at his home in Chesterfield with his wife now that his two kids have virtually flown the nest.
